About Me
My experience as a journalist includes writing for Alt.Cardiff, a
Cardiff-based alternative news website, where my published articles
include news, interview and feature pieces. I was especially interested
in covering stories on the arts and cultural field, such as new
exhibitions, my feature on the struggles of photography graduates in
Wales, and my interview with the leader of the Cardiff-born band King
Cerulean. I'm currently on work experience with Wales Business Insider magazine, where I'm tasked with researching and writing features for the print issue, interviewing and attending events around Cardiff.
I'm also interested in covering stories on sports, including motorsports. In my first-person experience feature (linked above), I wrote about my experience with fencing and explored the issues surrounding sport participation after childhood. I also wrote a Q&A piece for our class magazine Plunge about incorporating cold-water therapy into a training routine and its use for recovery. Due to my interest in motorsports I started a newsletter called The F1 Fan, where I write reviews, listicles, and create guides.
I studied environmental journalism and I'm interested in covering stories on sustainability. I previously interned at an e-commerce sustainable fashion website called Staiy where I wrote editorial content for their online magazine, covering a variety of topics on fashion and sustainability such as news, awards, legislation, technology, and products.
During my MA course I gained experience is magazine production (held
the position of Production Editor for our class magazine) including
skills like sub-editing, creating page layouts and editing photos, and
I'm a confident user of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. I can produce and
edit multimedia content including photos, audio, podcasts and social
media videos using Adobe software such as Express, Rush, and Audition.
I'm familiar with publishing on Wordpress as well as newsletter publishing on Substack and Mailchimp. Apart from my own newsletter I was responsible for producing the bi-weekly newsletter of a communications agency I worked for prior my master's. I'm also experienced in SEO research and can create digital-first, SEO friendly content for websites.
